Wooden wedges are the unsung heroes of camera movement. 

Allowing for easy levelling of metal rails that will carry a camera platform (normally a very solid and heavy wheeled device called a “dolly”).

I thoroughly enjoy a local peculiarity, where grips will immortalise phrases and quotes onto the wedges...

Never saw that back in oz :)

Echoes of light.

I love hard, crisp, shadows...

It reminds me of warm sun rays, an open flame, or even a ‘spotlight’

When booming, it clearly defines where you can place the microphone.

Of course, if a shadow is soft, there’s a greater chance that the light will be more flattering, more forgiving, softer and gentler - but some times it’s refreshing to see a sharp shadow.
