Rainbow! - 13th June 2013 - Driving East across Canada, (somewhere in SK)

I know that it might seem implausible that I was able to line up a rainbow with the road-lines, but I swear it's 100% real.

Those are the benefits of having your camera in the passenger seat ready to shoot at a moments' notice (no lens cap, no case, just fully charged with a clean SD card)

Nikon D7000+18-200 (@50mm), f11 for 1/160sec, ISO 100, A little HDR in Photomatix to really make the colours pop.

horse-field haying over the back fence...

I tell you, they're pretty quick...

 red-machine poops out a bale

yellow loader picks it up, and whisks it away

stack 11 onto a flat-bed - which is then towed away while holding a twelfth bale...

...whole field (3 hill/valleys) done in less than 3 hours (guessing between 50-60 bales?)

Photographing the sunrise - 3rd May 2012 - Mt Coot-tha, Brisbane

A little 'photo-ception' = taking an electronic photo of my DSLR's optical viewfinder during my yearly quest to photo-document the may 3rd sunrises.

In our world of sound for film, "how" a space 'sounds' is the single biggest factor in how well we are able to collect dialog, I know that this is focused on music - but I definitely found it to be an interesting read

Panic Espresso - 19th August 2010 - Sydney Harbour, NSW

One of our actors makes themselves a latte while waiting for his 'death' scene in the Movie of the week, 'panic at rock island

I got to know this machine quite well over the years, it made a damn-fine cup of joe if you followed the Unit Departments' instructions.

junky-details, Tuesday 11th July 2017, Truro NS

taken with a Sony RX100 at 35 equiv. of 28mm, f4.9, for 1/160, ISO 125

and now for some bonus images from the day.

...the only thing that sucks about shooting  in a scrap-yard = sharp little spikey things+rental-van tires.
Personally, I thought they held up pretty well considering the conditions - but there was definitely a need for assistance from the transport department to plug a hole this little thing made. 😳

positivity #8

On the left is a three-layered 10 pound coffee grinder, on the right is a wireless keyboard, in the middle... is the result of me being a clumsy idiot

The positivity part of this post is that the sharp and heavy edge of the coffee grinder didn't damage my toe any more than it did...

...and that I was able to finish making a coffee.

So if you see me walking around a little gingerly on-set today, at least I've had my cafeine intake for the morning. 😄

Window flare - 5th December 2008 - somewhere between Broome and Perth, WA

Captured mid-flight; heading to Perth for a weekend "splinter-sound-unit" on 'Bran Nue Dae', while the Mixer drove his vehicle down for the remainder of the shoot.

I do love a good flare...
