mega-relationship-advice

fans of the blog will know of my unending love for 'deep-diving' when it comes to weighty subjects.

this guy group-souced over 1500 responses from people in long-term relationships and analysed the common themes.

it's very long (says 44 mins, but realistically, I managed to knock it off in about half); and quite interesting.

Passed this demolition derby/racing truck yesterday...

Sadly the iPhone didn't focus quick enough to capture the writing on the back window

C-47/Pen - 9th August 2012 - Halifax, NS
Sometime during the second season of Mr. D, I bought a new pocket-camera for the belt.

It's larger sensor allowed for more creative slices of focus compared to its predecessor.

As for the clothes-pin, sadly I've forgotten who gave me the gift (LX, or props?) but I thought it fit nicely on my pen. (which still has a place in my every-day kit for marking up the sides... the pen, not the C-47, sadly)

If you zoom in on the sign; you may notice a blobby shape just under the middle point...
That's our friend the woodpecker, attempting to hammer 🔨 their way THROUGH the sign...
Made for an interesting sound, and a big WTF!

Bonus WTF
Ticks; they suck.

They like to jump onto clothing...

...and sound bags!

Skin is crawling just thinking about it

Vancouver - 7th February 2010 - North Vancouver, BC

In 2010, I travelled to Vancouver to activate my 2 year work-holiday visa and take a quick skiing holiday before returning to Australia for my Brothers wedding.

Shortly before leaving, I took a night-time photo walk around the northern Vancouver harbour.

This was one of my favourite shots from the whole trip.

Panasonic LX3 point and shoot - (35 equiv. 24mm) f8.0, 8 sec, ISO 80

Either on a tripod (did I take one with me on that trip?), or  just resting on a railing

T.F.T.W #3

Interconnectedness and internet advertising; the future is now…

The other day I was out and about with Lisa, running some errands. I used the maps application on my phone to search for directions to a golf store, as it wasn’t somewhere that we regularly go. (or receive advertising for)

The very next day - an advertisement for that same golf store wound its way onto the browser of my ipad…

Just to clarify, I didn’t exactly “search” for golf stuff (at least not in the browser)… so the ‘maps’ program must have sent some data to a server, which made a note I was investigating directions to a specific place. This data was then converted into an advertisement for that same place, which was then forced in front of my eyeballs - on a completely different device....

Random parts of your life that you might not have expected to be connected, are now inexorably intertwined…

good luck navigating your lives people!

P.S.
I’m not exactly some hippy-dippy anti-technology guy, I totally understand that any benefits to using technology must come with assumed ‘costs’ that help it’s magical powers.

I just find it funny that somewhere, some computer server now thinks that:
a) I like golf,
b) I'm not soooo into golf that I automatically know how to get to the store,
c) I would like a 10% discount to go back in the next two months…

It’s a little ‘tail-wagging-the-dog’ for my liking, but I’m sure that some advertising guru will be able to prove (down to several decimal points) that this targeted advertising ‘synergy’ is more effective than, say - a TV/radio Ad, or mail-outs, or direct-dialing, or newspapers, or… you get the point. :)

sunburn and dust - 14th November 2008 - Broome, WA

Booming on 'bran nue dae' meant sweltering days in dusty environments.

One day, looking at my legs before jumping in the shower, I just had to capture the perfectly distinct line.
