Top Ten

Below are 10 of my favourite photos from the year 2024.

in no particular order

10

the view from our skiing accommodation in Furano

9

always something special about pulling into (or away from) our local airport

8

Snow and Monkeys - a great combination

7

shadow showing the partial solar eclipse hitting a headlight selector switch in the car

6

Chippy resurfaces, and chills in the back yard; after disappearing for the last few years

5

delicious ramen lunch - I just love the colours and the tone

4

Aurora - from the front yard

3

empty chairs - misty - simple lines - love it

2

I normally travel with a small 'fixed-lens' camera, but knowing that this excursion would present itself with some awesome opportunities, I brought along a proper body and longer lens as well... we were handsomely rewarded with some of the most photogenic moneys ever. the heavy snow was just a bonus :)

1

on location for a film, in one of the most magical looking locations I've been to for quite a while.
the misty conditions are completely man-made, but the sun is real.

Bonus

I don't know why I like this photo so much - but it makes me smile every time I look at it.

Speed Re-Cap #124

 August 2020

Work

Absolutely spectacular sunsets this time of year

exhausted

Legally allowed to cruise the streets = why didn't I do this 20 years ago?

Island views

W.T.F. = Yearly wood-shed delivery... now with free wood-chuck included!

"Charles" was a little fearful, but managed to scurry away into the local field.  Here's hoping that they find a nice place to burrow and hibernate.

on-set props makes an ultraviolet lighthouse on a bar-table... signifying the 'lighthouse' filming location...

saw the film last night - don't know what to think of it to be honest.
It’s a spectacular art film, with some of the most amazing performances I’ve ever seen on film; but is also absolutely ‘completely nutso-bonkers’ at times...

Definitely worth a look at the big screen.

BTW, it sounds fantastic, and I have to say that the whole team did an amazing job; in what I know were almost impossible filming conditions.

Big thanks to Frank and James for handling the mic work when I wasn’t available, and to Cory for joining me in Yarmouth for a big dialogue scene (which was one of the best days of my working career)

Of course, biggest thanks and congratulations has to go to Zan - leader of the team, and a great friend. It’s a spectacular film, one to be proud of, and remember fondly.

Bonus photo of some gulls...
